Susan Tuveson, then a family and divorce attorney, had a revelation while she was looking through her chocolate cookbooks right before the Maine bar exam. She decided not to take the
exam, she opened a chocolate shop in Kittery, Maine, and she's never looked back.
According to a report called The art of chocolate: quality is key for shop owner, on Seacoastonline.com, "The whole concept just leapt from the page and there it was," she said. "The next day I called the bar exam and said 'I'm not coming.'"
She continued, "That was February 2000, and we opened Cacao Chocolates in December 2000."
Now Tuveson is not only the owner of that highly successful chocolate shop but a recognized expert on chocolate and a radio personality. According to Seacoastonline.com:
When she is not creating a yummy, new chocolate truffle, Tuveson can be heard on Portsmouth public radio, WSCA 106.1, every Friday, from 6 to 7 p.m. The program is 'Wine Me, Dine Me,' with Seacoast Media Group foodieRachael Forrest.
Tuveson plans another radio program, on opera. Had she taken the bar exam, of course, her later success might never have happened.
